Welcome to my blog, the blog, and newsroom for a student, practitioner, and professionals who are currently looking for information and learning about "management". I am particularly excited about launching this blog as it will be one of my motivations to learn new skills, keep updated, read the latest information about management, as well as enable me to sharpen my analyzing skill, and share knowledge with you, guys.

About "Management" Covered by This Blog


The concept of management is as old as the human race itself. Management can be defined in detail as a process, activity, discipline, group, science, art, or profession. The most up to date development of management in the 21st century, business management came to consist of financial management, human resource management, IT management, marketing management, operation management, strategic management, public management, and non-profit management.


Management (or managing) is the administration within organization either as system (strategy & operation) or personnel (people) in order to manage available resources, such as financial (money), natural (material, inventories), technological (machinery), intellectual (creativity, skill, science, knowledge) and human resources. In my opinion, the word "manage" itself is a multi-meaning word, it may be used by the meaning of to plan, to organize, to command, to coordinate, and to control.

According to Henri Fayol, management operates through five basic functions: planning, organizing, coordinating, commanding, and controlling.
  1. Planning (+forecasting): Deciding what needs to happen in the future and generating plans for action (deciding in advance).
  2. Organizing (or staffing): Making sure the human and non-human resources are put into place.
  3. Coordinating: Creating a structure through which an organization's goals can be accomplished.
  4. Commanding (or leading): Determining what must be done in a situation and getting people to do it.
  5. Controlling: Checking progress against plans.

Management skills include:
  • Political: used to build a power base and to establish connections
  • Conceptual: used to analyze complex situations
  • Interpersonal: used to communicate, motivate, mentor and delegate
  • Diagnostic: the ability to visualize appropriate responses to a situation
  • Leadership: ability to lead and to provide guidance to a specific group
  • Technical: expertise in one's particular functional area.
  • Behavioral: perception towards others.
